Program Design...

Morning Chanting and Ceremony (Ana Forrest)

Each morning prior to the Forrest Yoga Intensive, Ana will lead chanting, drumming,, and sitting meditation in a ceremony to set the intent for the day and create the space for healing and connection to your spirit.

Daily Yoga Intensives (Ana Forrest)

The daily Forrest Yoga Intensives with Ana and her teaching assistants will create a heightened sense of physical, emotional and spiritual awareness while challenging every muscle and cell in your body. Through a carefully constructed and rigorous Forrest Yoga series of asanas, Ana will open you to amazing depths and feelings of awareness. You will leave feeling cleansed, refreshed and alive. The intensives are a sanctuary where you can feel safe enough to open up, work through issues that may arise and go beyond your perceived limitations. You will learn about yourself and feel what it is like to have freedom in your own body and mind. The intensives are sure to bring each trainee to new levels within their yoga practice. Injuries are addressed so that each trainee experiences these classes as part of his or her own healing practice.

Afternoon Training & Instruction sessions (Ana Forrest)

Daily five to six hour sessions of training and instruction comprise the afternoon portion of the course. Working from a comprehensive manual of over 300 pages, distilled from Ana's 30+ years of experience, trainees begin practice teaching on the first day - initially in small groups, eventually teaching beginning-level yoga students during the "Intro to Forrest Yoga" workshop. These skill-building exercises help trainees master the essential elements of teaching, such as: class sequencing, seeing and understanding physical structure and energy, the use of safe and effective hands-on adjustments, communication by verbal and non-verbal means, effective use of class dialogue and tone of voice as well as the continued development of a more engaging presence and self-awareness in your class.

Two weekend workshops titled, an Introduction to Forrest Yoga,
are offered to the public.

Trainees team teach these workshops, rotating between teaching class, assisting and adjusting under Ana's supervision. These workshops are videotaped for review. This hands-on experience leads to informative feedback for trainees as they develop their teaching style and skills, regrdless of their teaching experience

Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers (Brian Campbell)

This 20 hour anatomy intensive is highly experiential that combines anatomical instruction with an emphasis on sharpening each teacher's perceptual skills to better assess the needs of their students in the environment of a yoga class. The art of assessment is a life-long process by which a yoga teacher gains mastery and depth as an instructor. Learn some of the short-cuts to assessment in this fun and highly informative class about the interrelationship of the Rule of Four: Biomechanics, Biochemistry, Scar Tissue, and Emotional Blockage. These four elements define the healing process for us and for our students. As yoga teachers, we are in a unique position to streamline that healing process by learning to perceive each aspect of the Rule of Four. This is our governing principle as we learn the anatomy of the human structure and tie it together with practical information to speed healing when possible and explain why when it is not appropriate to hurry it.

In this class, you will learn to perceive:

- How our Emotional Blockage expresses itself as posture and postural deviation.
- How our Scar Tissue affects flexibility, even at a distance from an injury.
- How genetics influences our Biomechanics and how to tell when it doesn't.
- How our Biochemistry (for better of for worse) can determinethe pleasure of our practice.

Brian Campbell is a Los Angeles based Yoga teacher, Bodyworker and Functional Anatomy teacher. He is a senior mentor teacher in the Forrest Yoga system and regularly assists Ana Forrest in Teacher Trainings and works directly with her at yearly healing ceremonies at her home in the San Juan islands in the Pacific Northwest. He currently teaches Forrest Yoga classes at Exhale's Center for Sacred Movement in Venice, California and leads workshops and retreats internationally. Brian is also a structural Deep-Tissue and Cranio-Sacral Bodyworker. He worked intensively since 2001 with bodywork masters Dr. Vincent Medici and Ellen Heed learning how to open breath, recognize blood stasis, reset structure, tap and release core tension, and open meridian systems. Brian is on faculty at the Shiatsu Massage School of California in Santa Monica and teaches Anatomy, Pain & Orthopedic Evaluation, Advanced Myo-fascial meridian theory & Pracitce, Structural Muscles: A ten week Yoga and Dee-Tissue Bodywork course.

Course materials, a 150 page color illustration booklet is included in the price.

This class is taught in conjunction with Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training and satisfies the 20-hour anatomy requirement for the National Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification and is open to yoga practitioners.

What makes this Training so Effective....

This training is experiential, focused, and a culmination of over 30 years of Ana's experience. From the first day, you begin your journey delving deeper into your own practice during the morning intensives, a process to further connect you to your authentic voice. Your are there to learn to teach, so from the first outset, you teach. First you teach each other, and then you have the opportunity to teach students under the supervision of Ana. You will be videotaped and review, over the course of two separate weekends. This process is an incredibly powerful learning technique. You will see firsthand how you are teaching and if your words and actions are congruent and clear. Video review is an extremely effective learning tool, allowing great strides in communication, body language and instruction to be made in a short amount of time

The Forrest Yoga Teacher Training program, due to its experiential nature, employs a myriad of group processes so that trainees may absorb the course material in a permanent way. Group forums are utilized for philosophical inquiries into ethics, boundaries and teaching integrity; while small group sessions with each instructor are used to practice sequencing, teaching and provide feedback. Based upon the principles of the Native American talking circle, "Opening Circles" also provide opportunities for trainees to come together to share their feelings, struggles, victories and overall experiences with the program. It is also an occasion to learn to speak your truth and listen open-heartedly, without judgment to each others' truths.
Trainees receive a comprehensive, 300 page Teacher manual that includes material relating to: postures, adjustments, sequencing, injuries, lesson plans, healing, nutrition and more. The manual is a substantial and detailed resource for trainees to use both during and after the training. It includes several of Ana's articles as well as material she has written exclusively for the Teacher Training course. Upon successful completion of the teaching program, the manual will be yours to take home.
You will also receive two other manuals, one for Anatomy and one for the Business course.
Both these publication are for deeper illustration of the concepts presented and an addition to your youga reference library.
