Even though it was almost ten years ago, I remember my first Ana Forrest class like it was yesterday. My humdrum daily life bored me and I had the vague sense that there was something more, but I couldn't see it and couldn't reach it. We began that class with some simple breathing exercises and gentle stretches. Okay, this is nice, I thought. But then came the abdominal work. Fireworks started in my belly and a stream of lava-like energy flowed through the rest of my body, waking me up and making me come alive. No more humdrum since that day. I have pursued my study of Ana Forrest yoga since that first class and have reaped so many wonderful rewards. Initially, I was grateful for my newfound strength and flexibility. I felt like a kid again every time we went upside down in class. But I soon came to see that what was at the center of it all was learning to breath - and then to heal -- as I worked through the poses. Learning how to use my breath as a nourishing spirit allowed me to get centered, mend my spirit, and hold steady during challenging moments, both on and off my mat. The ability to use my yoga time as a ceremony, or ritual, devoted to working with energy to heal my body and enliven my spirit is one of the most valuable gifts of my life. I am honored to share that gift with my students.
I am a certified teacher of Ana Forrest yoga and have attended many workshops with Ana Forrest and other teachers of Forrest yoga. I recently completed Ana Forrest's continuing teacher training at Generations Yoga. I am thrilled to join the extraordinary group of Forrest yoga teachers at Generations Yoga and I look forward to seeing you in my class!
