I began the practice of Yoga quite by accident, although I have come to realize that when you are truly present in your life there are no accidents. The practice of Yoga, learning to quiet the mind and realize the power of one’s own breath created such a profound change for me that I immediately was completely immersed in training and teaching as I gratefully embraced my life’s purpose.

I share a meditative practice of Hatha yoga during which one begins to calm the breath, the body and the mind. My intention is to provide a practice of yoga that all can feel capable of embracing whatever one’s experience or physical condition. This is accomplished by focusing on the breath and movement in a meditative manner, and balancing the opposing forces in the body, such as masculine energy and feminine energy, left and right, inhalation and exhalation, thereby restoring the body to its natural equilibrium.

Through the practice of yoga and focus on the breath, I believe that we can begin to lean how to relax even in our tension. Learning how to gracefully surrender, connecting with one’s inner power as opposed to using force. I believe that each yoga class is simply a condensed practice of daily life. By becoming the watcher as opposed to the responder during class one can reconnect and begin to incorporate perspective in the practice of one’s daily life.

My diverse personal and teacher training experiences contribute to an energy based class which varies from week to week. I am a 200 hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), having received my certification through Integral Yoga. I studied and lived for 30 days at Satchidananda Ashram, completely immersing myself in the study of yoga and the yogic lifestyle. In addition, I am YogaEd certified to teach children and teachers, as well as a trainer for Luster Learning Institute, NFP. Other trainings include extensive personal and teacher trainings (adult and children) with Dahn Yoga as well as Pilates Matwork Certification from Pilates PhysicalMind Institute.

I have had the good fortune to be involved in sharing the practice of yoga in many different arenas, including teaching in private studios and homes, as well as academic, hospital and corporate settings. I have also been involved with creating and teaching yoga and yoga-oriented workshops throughout the Chicagoland area to teachers and students in the academic settings.

The opportunity to teach children has given me great hope for our future. Independent of all of the sensory and materialistic stimuli that our children receive moment to moment, when they open their eyes after relaxation and they look into your eyes in total amazement, I know there is hope. The more opportunities we can give our children to feel and know their inner peace and joy, the more readily they will experience respect and compassion for themselves and others.

I have immeasurable gratitude for my teachers and their teachers before them as well as for the love and patience of my husband and two children as they continue to embrace me and my passion.
